What is Cleveland Suzuki Camp?

Cleveland Suzuki Camp is a one-week violin camp for children ages 9–13 who are currently studying Suzuki Books 1–3. It is a joy-filled week of music-making where students grow in confidence on the violin through group playing, movement, games, and learning alongside other young musicians. Camp activities are designed to inspire motivation, build community, and deepen each child’s love of music in a nurturing, Suzuki-centered environment.

Tuition includes:

  • 12.5 hours of instruction led by Anna Hogas and Cammi Ramirez Venegas
  • Daily group classes, masterclasses, music theory and movement games
  • Introduction to fiddling, improvisation, music history, and sight reading
  • Learning a new violin ensemble piece
  • Community recital on a real stage at our camp location on Saturday morning
  • Small class sizes of under 15 kids to ensure quality instruction
  • Camp swag!

Who is this camp for?

This camp is a great fit for violin students in Suzuki Books 1–3, typically ages 9–13, who are excited to grow as musicians and enjoy learning with peers. Students do not need to be “advanced”—just ready to participate, listen, and try their best.

What is the focus of the camp?

Our camp is designed to nurture beautiful tone, confident technique, joyful music-making, and strong ensemble skills—all in a supportive, encouraging environment. Students will review familiar repertoire, strengthen fundamentals, and experience the fun of learning and playing music together.

Is group class experience required?

Group class experience is helpful but not required. Camp is a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence playing with others in a kind, encouraging setting.

Who are the instructors?

Our teachers are experienced Suzuki educators who love working with children and believe in teaching with warmth, clarity, and joy.

What should students bring to camp?

Their violin, bow, shoulder rest, and smile!

What is the learning environment like?

Our camp is a positive, respectful, and joyful space. Movement, enthusiasm, and age-appropriate energy are welcomed. We emphasize kindness, cooperation, and listening to one another. Space is limited to ensure a high-quality experience.
